PRESI pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) cloths are perfect for all polishing requirements.
The various types of polishing cloths are:
- Woven: made with different fibres and weave sizes, they are all lamianted at the back to avoid penetration of the abrasive and diluent into the adhesive layer. They generally offer "hard surface" polishing properties and guarantee flatness without edge deterioration.
- Flocked: made using different type, lenght, density and grade of flock, as well as different flock supports and bonding. Only flocked cloths provide a super-polished finish. the polishing duration must be as short as possible to avoid inclusion extraction.
- Non-woven: mixtures of various fibres impregnated with plastic, elstomer, latex, etc. and often subject to mechano-chemical treatments. They are used on very hard meterials and for finishing of light alloys in mechanochemistry. They are an extension of metallographic methods for finishing of high-precision surfaces such as glass, quartz, sapphire and semi-conductors.

PRESI offers a complete range of self-adhesive or magnetic polishing cloths for all metallographic and geological polishing applications. They are intended for use with abrasive compounds such as diamond, aluminium oxide, SPM chemo-mechanical suspensions, etc. All types are available in 4 grades: fine-grinding, rough-polishing, final-polishing, super-finishing.

LD diamond slurries are prepared in PRESI laboratories from monocrystalline diamond powder, graded with utmost care. LD constituents hav ebeen selected to meet all applications of modern metallography and to ensure optimum cutting power of diamond particles.

- LD 31 monocrystalline diamond slurries are ideal for grinding and polishing operations with our MECAPOL polishing machines. Specimens are cleaned with water or alcohol (LD 31 slurries are perfectly water soluble).

- LD 32: permanent suspension requiring no stirring and perfectly water soluble. Made from polycrystalline diamond with high cutting power, this new formulation is particularly recommended for treated steels and all hard materials.

- LD 33: coloured permanent suspension requiring no stirring and perfectly water soluble. Made from monocrystalline diamond, this suspension is siutable for all metallographic polishing operations.

- LD 32 E and LD 33 E are similar to LD32 and LD33, but with better lubrication characteristics.

- L contains a high concentration of polycrystalline diamond in a alcohol base (no water). Perfectly soluble in water and alcohol.

- LA: same high concentration of polycrystalline diamond as LA slurry but higher removal rates. Alcohol base (no water). Perfectly soluble in water and alcohol.

LD 33 stick: the dosimeter stick has a high concentration of monocrystalline diamond. Different colours ciorrespond to different grain sizes. It provides a uniform distribution and accurate dosing.

Six grades of polycrystalline diamond aerosols are available. They can be used for all types of polishing on both manual and semi-automatic machines. L aerosols do not contain propellants and are therefore ozone friendly. They comply with environmental protection standards.

The SPM suspension is intended for super-finishing of aluminium oxide, copper and titanium specimens and more generally any specimen with thin layers. This suspension can be diluted up to 7 times in water. To avoid crystallisation, the specimens and the cloth must be thoroughly rinsed with water after polishing.
