The Leica RM2165, a fully motorized rotary microtome for applications
in the medical laboratory and for semi-thin sectioning in biomedical
research and industrial quality control applications. The RM2165 is
for users looking for a microtome for either their various microtomy
needs or specific top-of-the-range sectioning requirements. The RM2165
is also the instrument of choice for sectioning at low temperatures
in combination with the LN21 Freezing Unit.

Detailed Description
The Leica RM2165 offers four different cutting modes for all common
microtomy applications. In motorized operation the user can choose between
single and continuous stroke. In manual operation, it is possible to
either use the conventional method of completing a full handwheel rotation
or to work in the rocking mode. When using this mode, it is only necessary
to move the handwheel back and forth over a short distance. Each change
in rotation is electronically detected and automatically converted into
an advance or retraction movement.
The rocking mode saves time when trimming small specimens. In addition,
it minimizes the risk of developing repetitive motion disorders which
are a common problem for the microtomist performing routine sectioning
every day. The cutting thickness can be set from 0.25 to 60 µm
so that the RM2165 can also be used for semi-thin sections.
